Police say a 2-year-old child was pulled from a pool at a residence on Second Concession in Norfolk County, Ont.

In a social media post, OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk said the incident on Tuesday afternoon was a “near drowning” and that family members pulled a young boy from the water and performed CPR.

“A two-year-old child left the residence, walked out to the backyard and entered the family pool,” said Sanchuk. “Probably five minutes went by when family members found him floating face down in the pool.”

Police say he was rushed to a local area hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

“If you do go outside to get in that last swim, make sure that you’re swimming with a buddy and wearing a life jacket or PFD regardless if you’re a weak swimmer or a strong swimmer, ” Sanchuk said.
