Grammy Awards 2020: Full list of nominees, winners for 'music's biggest night'

“Music’s biggest night” had a lot to offer this year.

The 62nd annual Grammy Awards united dozens of the world’s current biggest musicians along with some of the industry’s current key players on Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

Though the event came only hours after the tragic death of five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant, host Alicia Keys powered through tears as the Recording Academy’s 2020 chosen host.

She crushed a number of gripping performances, including a heartfelt tribute to the fallen basketball player with Boyz II Men, before inviting a variety of artists to present the ceremony’s major award winners.

‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ went to Billie Eilish for Bad Guy, and she also took home the top prize of ‘Album of the Year’ for When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go. Both awards were also given to her older brother Finneas.

Because of this, she dethroned Taylor Swift as youngest album of the year award winner. Swift earned the accolade in 2010 for Fearless.

Though neither of them won, Canadians were made proud by chart-topping artists Michael Bublé and Shawn Mendes, who each picked up a nomination for the show: Bublé for ‘Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album’ and Mendes for ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’.

Late American rap icon Nipsey Hussle posthumously won ‘Best Rap Performance’ for Racks in the Middle while also being honoured in DJ Khaled’s acceptance speech after winning the award for ‘Best Rap/Sung Performance’, which featured him.

Eilish, 18 along with her producer brother, won not only her first three Grammy Awards, but two others as well. She took home both the ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ awards, while Finneas, 22, won the non-classical awards for ‘Producer of the Year’ and ‘Best Engineered Album’.

These awards made the sibling duo the evening’s overall winners, with five awards each. In the end, Lizzo, who was nominated for eight individual awards, took the bronze medal after winning three golden gramophone statues.

Among other presenters and performers this year were Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Lil Nas X, BTS, Camila Cabello, Demi Lovato and Usher — who paid a career-spanning tribute to late-rock icon, Prince.
