Speaker: Terry Maurice
Family history research is always a challenging undertaking, but even more so when foreign languages, unfamiliar history, different customs and geographies are involved. These barriers often seem insurmountable, especially when one has no working knowledge of the ancestral languages. Terry’s presentation will outline his research journey, which began with a 1972 recorded interview made with his late grandmother, to his ultimate goal of meeting his family in Ukraine in May of 2018 and thereby closing the loop, 104 years after his family emigrated to Canada in 1914. Many of the techniques and shortcuts that will presented will be useful for those of you who face similar challenges in doing research in European countries.
You don’t need to be a member to attend our meetings – everyone is welcome!!
